MeNst Fabriek is a bottom up initiative to close the nutrient cycle in the city of Eindhoven. Located at Voedselbos De Wielewaal in Strijp-S we aim to create a link between food production and our human 'waste' management. Through a collaborative process between people, plants, microbes and many other living organisms we learn how to ferment and stabilize human urine for nutrient rich fertilizer and how to compost our feces to feed the soil back and the plants that once had nurtured us. Through a learn by doing process we gain skills, generate social capital and stimulate environmental change. At MeNst Fabriek, we invite every citizen to became a "prosumer", a producer and not only a consumer inside the urban metabolism.
